The key message of Gifted and Talented education is that all pupils, including the most able, have the right to enjoy a wide range of challenging learning experiences which are matched to their needs. Good provision for G&T pupils is an important component of the personalisation and equal opportunities agendas driving recent government initiatives, such as Every Child Matters (2003), Excellence and Enjoyment (2003) and Higher Standards: Better Schools for all (2005). Schools are encouraged to use the National Quality Standards in Gifted and Talented Education, which are based on the 5 elements of the Personalisation Framework, to audit and develop their provision.
