Aimhigher Norfolk

My name is Katie Murray and I am the Aimhigher Officer for the South of Norfolk. I work with several different schools in the area, including those that are located on the Southern edge of Norwich, such as, Framingham Earl, The Hewett, and City of Norwich High Schools, to those that form the ‘All Routes Partnership’, among them, Attleborough High School and Sixth Form Centre, Old Buckenham, Wymondham, and Hethersett High Schools and Wymondham College. In addition to these, other schools in the South area include, Long Stratton, Hethersett, Diss, and Archbishop Sancroft High schools and the two schools in Thetford; Rosemary Musker and Charles Burrell, who also share a partnership Sixth Form, Thomas Paine.

As a local and recent graduate myself I am keen to encourage young people in Norfolk to consider the wealth of opportunities that are available to them within Higher Education. Having lived in Norwich all my life I decided to study locally, and after completing A-Levels at the newly established Kett Sixth Form Centre in 2003, I went on to gain a 2:1 Honours degree in History and History of Art at UEA.

After graduating from UEA during the summer of 2006 I accepted a post as a Learning Support Assistant at Framingham Earl High School in Norfolk, where I began to recognise how important it is to support young people by boosting their confidence and self esteem.

In my role as Aimhigher Officer for the South, I hope to inspire young people to consider Higher Education by offering a range of activities for schools in my area. With my background in History and History of Art I would particularly welcome any suggestions for activities or events on these subjects. I am keen to organise any event or activity that you feel students in your school will benefit from. Please do get in touch with me soon.
