About Aimhigher Norfolk
Welcome to the Aimhigher Norfolk website.
Our website aims to signpost you to information about Higher Education, or HE for short. You can also find out more about the Aimhigher team and the events that we run across Norfolk. If you are a student who has been on an Aimhigher event recently, check our Photo Gallery page to see pictures of our events.
Aimhigher is a national, government-funded programme that helps young people to think about learning and training at a higher level, and makes them aware of the various progression routes that lead into HE at a university or college.
Aimhigher Norfolk is a small team based in different areas of Norfolk. The main Aimhigher office is based at the University Of East Anglia. The five Aimhigher Officers are based in different areas of Norfolk, and provide a wide range of activities for sixth forms and high schools in these areas, in partnership with HE providers and Connexions Norfolk. Meet the Aimhigher Norfolk team on our page, About The Team.
The Aimhigher Norfolk team supports high schools, colleges and other learning providers in areas where few young people progress to HE, by delivering and commissioning a range of activities to inspire young people. Aimhigher seeks to encourage more young people to consider entering HE, especially from backgrounds where there is no family experience and where they may benefit from support in understanding what HE has to offer them. The team can also provide support for young people on Apprenticeship programmes and other work-based learning routes, who could progress to HE.
Although the majority of our work is with young people in education and training, we also provide guidance and support through the advisers at the Learning Shop, which is based at The Forum in Norwich, and also Learning for Everyone, which is based in Cromer but has advisers working in the North Norfolk market towns.
Aimhigher Norfolk funds activities and projects delivered by education and training partners, youth groups, and community groups, which target young people and families who may be vulnerable or hard to reach. We are particularly keen to support funding applications for projects that focus on working with the following groups:
- Parents and carers, raising awareness of HE options
- Young people in, or leaving, care
- Young people in work-based learning
- Young adults who are not currently in education or training
- Older learners and returners to education
If you would be interested in applying for funding from Aimhigher Norfolk to support a project, or if you have any questions about the types of projects that we can support, please get in touch with Katie Barber, Aimhigher Norfolk Project Coordinator.
